NIA raids in Maharashtra, 2 arrested

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids in Kolhapur’s ‘Sirat Mohalla’ early Thursday as a part of a nationwide crackdown.

The NIA search operations in Maharashtra included Pune, Beed, Parbhani, Nanded, Jalgaon, Malegaon in cases linked to activities of the terror group ISIS.

NIA officials detained a man who identified as Abdul Mulla in Jawahar Nagar area, a suburb of the city, along with one from Ichalkaranji town and started inquiry at an unknown location in the district.

NIA and Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched nationwide anti-terror raids against Popular Front of India(PFI), the state ATS too launched a crackdown and conducted searches in Maharashtra.

According to information, the state ATS has arrested a total of 20 suspects in the state so far, while the NIA had registered suo-moto case on June 25 this year under IPC sections 153A, 153B and under UAPA act sections 18,18B, 38 and 40, in Delhi.
