Odisha govt. serves show cause notice to OCA for disruption of India-England cricket match due to light failure

Date:

The Sports Department of the Odisha government on Monday issued a show cause notice to the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) following the disruption of the second ODI between India and England due to a floodlight failure at Barabati Stadium on Sunday night.

In a letter to the honorary secretary of OCA, Director of Sports Sidharth Das stated that during the second One Day International (ODI) match between India and England at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, one of the floodlights went off, causing an interruption in the game.

Das mentioned that the incident led to the suspension of play for approximately 30 minutes, causing significant inconvenience to both the players and spectators.

The Director of Sports has directed OCA to submit a detailed explanation regarding the cause of the disruption, identify the individuals or agencies responsible for the lapse, and outline the measures taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

OCA has been asked to submit the detailed report within ten days of receiving the show cause notice.
