The Odisha Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes on Saturday right from the question hour over the allegation of the Officers Raj in the state by the opposition.
Speaker B K Arukh had to adjourn the house four times till 1630 hours due to ruckus by the Opposition in which the question hour and the adjournment debate was completely washed
out.
The house however returned to normalcy after the issue was reportedly resolved in an all party meeting convened by the Speaker and the members participated in the debate on the demands of grants for the Revenue and Disaster Management department.
The trouble began when the house assembled for the day to take up the question hour.
The opposition CPI(M), Congress and BJP stormed into the well of the house and created a ruckus demanding transfer of Koida Block Development Officer (BDO) in Sundergarh district.
The Speaker was forced to adjourn the house till 1130 hours as despite his repeated appeal to the members to return to their seat and participate in the proceedings of the house failed to yield any result. The question hour was washed out due to the protest by the opposition members.
As soon as the question hour started Laxman Munda, CPI(M) raised the issue of the transfer of Koida BDO.
He alleged Officers raj is going on in the state and the BDO is disrespecting the peoples representative .
Munda said he has been demanding for the transfer of the BDO for the last three days.Even the Speaker in his ruling had directed the government to take action, the officer has become more
rude in his behaviour.
He further said that people in the area have taken out a rally demanding the transfer of the BDO who is not coming to office and functioning from the residence.
Munda stormed into the well and demanded the Speaker to direct the government to shift the BDO from Koida within 24 hours. Soon after, the members of the Congress and BJP also rushed to the well and created a ruckus in the house in support of Munda.
Finding it difficult to conduct the business of the house smoothly, the Speaker adjourned it at 1031
hrs till 1130hrs.
