A 62-year-old train passenger who was injured while travelling to New Delhi when the middle berth fell on him while he was asleep, has succumbed to his injuries. His mortal remains reached his residence in Kerala on Wednesday.
M. Ali Khan was asleep in the lower berth on June 18. When the train reached Warangal, Telangana, the berth above him with its passenger collapsed on him fracturing three bones in his neck, an official said.
Railway authorities rushed him to a hospital in Warangal and later shifted to Kings Multispeciality hospital in Hyderabad, he said.
Khan succumbed to his injuries on Monday following three surgeries since June 21.
His remains were brought to his residence at Maranchery on Wednesday morning. The funeral will take place at Kunnath Juma masjid at Vadanukku at noon, family sources said.
