PM Modi arrives in Jeddah, accorded ceremonial welcome

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jeddah on a two-day visit today, and was warmly welcomed by Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Governor of Makkah.

The Prime Minister said in a post on X:

“Landed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This visit will strengthen the friendship between India and Saudi Arabia. Eager to take part in the various programmes today and tomorrow.”

The MEA spokesperson said in a post that PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome with a 21-gun salute at the King Abdulaziz International Airport.

“Giving further momentum to our long-standing and historic ties.

“PM @narendramodi lands in the historic port city of Jeddah to a 21 gun salute & ceremonial welcome.

“Warmly received by HRH Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Governor of Makkah, H.E. Majid bin Abdullah Al Kassabi, Commerce Minister of Saudi Arabia and H.E. Saleh Ali Al-Turki, Mayor of Jeddah.”

Earlier, the PM’s aircraft was accompanied by F15 jets of the Royal Saudi Air Force in a special gesture.

At the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Jeddah the PM was accorded a rousing welcome from the Indian diaspora, with chants of “Modi, Modi”.

His visit is at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
