Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has created new ‘environment’ in the country: Kharge

Date:

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said the Bharat Jodo Yatra-led by former party chief Rahul Gandhi, has created a new “atmosphere” in the country.

The Yatra, led by Rahul, started in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari in September last year, traversed several states, including Karnataka, and concluded in Jammu and Kashmir in January. The party says it was one of its “most decisive mass contact programmes”.

“Rahul Gandhi ji, with his Bharat Jodo Yatra, has created a new ‘atmosphere’ in the country. He took major issues of the country among the public,” Kharge said in an address at the Leadership Development Mission, organised by the party’s SC-ST, OBC, and Minorities departments at the party headquarters here.

The former president has been claiming that he was successful in spreading love against the “hatred spread by the ruling BJP” through his BJY.

Kharge also credited the Yatra for the party’s massive win in the recently concluded Karnataka Assembly elections.

Talking about the Leadership Development Mission, the Congress chief said, “The Leadership Development Mission was announced at the Udaipur Chintan Shivir (of the party). We are constantly pushing to strengthen the organisation.”

“Unless you are strong, don’t stand on your feet, and instill self-respect in yourself, you can’t move forward. Don’t be dependent on others,” Kharge said as he advised the party members to become “inevitable” in their respective areas.

The Congress national coordinator for SC, OBC, Minority, and Adivasi departments, K Raju said,”The Leadership Development Mission is not a mission to choose leaders but to prepare leaders for the future.
