Train traffic was disrupted when some coaches of Ahmedabad bound Sabarmati Express derailed near Kanpur here in Uttar Pradesh in the wee hours on Saturday, railway sources said here.
Sources said that no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident. A relief train was sent from Kanpur, they said.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw wrote on X, “The engine of Sabarmati Express (Varanasi to Ahmedabad) hit an object placed on the track and derailed near Kanpur at 02:35 am today. Sharp hit marks are observed. Evidence is protected. IB and UP police are also working on it.
” He said that there were no injuries to passengers or staff. Train has been arranged for passengers for their onward journey to Ahmedabad.
The Railways have also issued helpline numbers.
Some trains have been cancelled and few others have been diverted in the wake of the incident.
