Telangana: Rs.535 crore collected as penalty from traffic violators in 2024

 The Traffic police department has collected Rs 535 crore as penalties in over 1.57 lakh cases of various kinds of violations of the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act (MV Act) in the State during 2024 (up to December 15).

However, this was slightly less than last year.

According to annual data released by the state traffic police department,1,57,68,339 cases were reported last year, and a fine of Rs. 540.91 crore was collected.

Of the total cases registered in the state, two-thirds were within three commissionerates: Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda.

The Traffic Police registered 55,234 cases of drunk driving and collected a fine of Rs 10.69 crore from offenders in Hyderabad city alone during the year.

Mulugu and Bhupalpally districts have reported the least number of cases.

Violations like not wearing a helmet, traveling at high speed, signal jumping and talking on cell phone while driving were being recorded in the CCTV cameras on the roads and intersections.
