Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin
on Thursday announced that a new TIDEL Park would be
set up in this district.
Addressing the Southern Regional MSME meet organised
by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises department,
the Chief Minister said the Tidel Park will be set up in two
phases at Mattuthavani in Madurai district.
In the first Phase it would be set up .in a five acre land at a
cost of Rs 600 crore and it would be doubled on another
five acres in the second phase.
The Tidel park will provide quality infrastructure for IT and
Fintech companies, he said, adding, it would generate job
opportunities for 10,000 people and help spur economic
activity of Madurai region.
The Chief Minister said the TIDEL Park Limited, along with
the Madurai Corporation, will form a Special Purpose Vehicle
(SPV) for setting up of the TIDEL Park.
It would be operated and administered by TIDEL Park Limited.
Recalling that former Chief Minister, M.Karunanidhi sowed the
seeds for the IT revolution in the State by setting up the TIDEL
Park in Chennai in 2000, Stalin said it was followed up by
setting up another TIDEL Park in Coimbatore.
He also said the state Government was in the process of setting
up neo-TIDEL Parks in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Thoothukudi,
Tiruppur, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Salem, Vellore and Ooty
(Udhagamandalam).

He said the State Government was not looking at industrial
development as flourishing of the industries, but as job
generators that leads to improvement of livelihood of lakhs
of families.
Such industries would develop the economic activities of
the block and district and thereby contribute to State’s
economic development.
