A wagon filled with highly inflammable fuel on a goods train parked in the yard of Meerut City Railway Station here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday suddenly caught fire, official sources said here.

Sources said that the goods train, carrying fuel from Saharanpur to Bharatpur, was stationed in the yard. Due to the intense heat, the last wagon of the train became extremely hot and flames were seen emerging from its top lid, they said.

Sources said that the wagon was immediately separated from the rest of the train by the engine and fire-fighting equipment was used to control the flames. Several fire brigades arrived on the scene and successfully extinguished the fire, they said.
