Ukraine loses up to 1200 troops in clashes with Russian forces over past day: Military

 Ukraine has lost up to 1,200 soldiers in battles with Russian forces over the past day, the Russian Defence Ministry said on Thursday.

Kiev has lost over 460 servicemen and three armored fighting vehicles in clashes with Russia’s Zapad (West) group of forces, which also repelled six Ukrainian counterattacks, the ministry said in a daily bulletin.

Russia’s Tsentr (Center) group of forces has eliminated up to 240 Ukrainian soldiers and repelled 13 counterattacks, while Russia’s Yug (South) group has continued advancing behind enemy lines, eliminating up to 210 Ukrainian troops and repelling four counterattacks, the statement read.

Ukraine has lost over 160 soldiers and a HMMWV armored car in clashes with Russia’s Vostok (East) group of forces, the ministry also said.

Russia’s Dnepr group has eliminated up to 90 Ukrainian troops and destroyed an ammunition depot, with Kiev losing up to 40 servicemen in clashes with Russia’s Sever (North) group.

Russian air defences shot down a Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jet, six US-made HIMARS rockets and 97 fixed-wing drones over the past 24 hours, the ministry said.
