Agartala, 22nd May 2025: A pall of grief descended over Jolaibari Santiniketan Para following the death of 33-year-old Prasenjit Debnath at GB Pant Hospital today.The family has accused neurosurgeon Dr. Reddy of negligence, claiming that delays in critical medical intervention led to Prasenjit’s untimely demise.
According to the bereaved family, Prasenjit was admitted to the hospital in a seriously injured condition. However, due to an alleged shortage of ICU beds and the absence of prompt surgical treatment, he remained unattended for three days. His condition reportedly deteriorated, eventually leading to his death.”The hospital failed to provide him the necessary care. He was left to suffer for days despite his critical condition. This is nothing short of negligence,” a grieving family member said.
The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who gathered outside the hospital demanding accountability.Seeking justice, the family has appealed to Tripura Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha to intervene and initiate a fair investigation into the incident. They have demanded strict action against those responsible, urging the government to address systemic gaps in the state’s healthcare infrastructure.“No one else should have to face this kind of pain due to negligence. We want justice for Prasenjit,” the family said in a statement.As the allegations surface, questions are once again being raised about the state of healthcare facilities and accountability within Tripura’s premier government hospital. An official response from hospital authorities is still awaited.
