Harleen shines as India seal ODI series

Date:

Harleen Deol’s maiden ODI century and Pratika Rawal’s exceptional allround performance propelled India to a commanding 115-run victory over West Indies, securing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

Harleen’s scintillating knock of 115 runs from 103 balls, adorned with 16 boundaries, anchored India’s innings. She was well-supported by Pratika contributed a quick-fire 76 off 86 deliveries and chipped in with two wickets later. Together, they helped India post a formidable total of 358/5, equalling their highest-ever score in women’s ODIs.

India innings began on a strong note as Smriti Mandhana and Pratika put on a 110-run opening partnership. Mandhana scored a steady 53 before being dismissed, paving the way for Pratika and Harleen to take charge. A late flourish from Jemimah Rodrigues, who smashed 52 off 36 balls, further boosted India’s total.

In response, West Indies were rattled early by India’s disciplined bowling. Captain Hayley Matthews stood tall with a valiant 106 off 109 balls, marking her seventh ODI century, but found little support from her teammates. Contributions from Shemaine Campbelle (38), Zaida James (25), and Afy Fletcher (22) were not enough to mount a serious challenge.

Priya Mishra led India’s bowling attack with figures of 3/41, while Rawal, Deepti Sharma, and Titas Sadhu picked up two wickets each to bundle out the visitors for 243 in 46.2 overs.

India’s victory comes as they aim to climb the ICC Women’s Championship standings, with four games left in their campaign. Australia has already secured the top spot following their series win over New Zealand, leaving India in a tight race with England for second place.

India will look to complete a clean sweep in the final ODI and continue their dominant run as they build momentum for the upcoming international fixtures.
