B’desh suspends visa of Indian media journo

Date:

The United States has canceled the visas of diplomats, politicians, and administration officials under the US visa policy in Bangladesh.

Although there is no instruction to cancel the visa of any journalist or media in the official order of the US administration, Bangladesh has officially canceled the SAARC visa of Mir Afroz Zaman, a correspondent working in Bangladesh of UNI, the national news agency of neighbouring India.

On Sunday, Bangladesh Foreign Ministry’s SAARC Wing Assistant Secretary Falguni informed UNI Correspondent Mir Afroz Zaman over the phone about the visa suspension.

It is known that Bangladeshi journalists get that visa for a period of three months to travel to SAARC countries.

Accreditation by the Ministry of Information is mandatory to get SAARC sticker visa, which Mir Afroz Zaman had and he traveled India with this visa for about 1 year. After the visa expired, he applied for the visa again last week. The Director General of SAARC signs the file and send it to the section. But sadly, SAARC Section Assistant Secretary Falguni, in her own capacity, withheld the file and confirmed to Mir Afroz Zaman on telephone that no Indian media will be given this visa.

It should be noted that Bangladesh’s diplomatic relationship with India is very sweet, which the media journalist had to bear. The issue has created a sensation in the media world of Bangladesh.
