Agartala, 4th July 2025: As part of the ongoing ‘Ek Peer Ma Ke Naam’ initiative, the Tripura State Cooperative Consumers Federation Limited organized a tree plantation program today near the Durjoynagar LPG Gas Godown in Agartala. The event was attended by Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, who graced the occasion as chief guest and inaugurated the program by planting a sapling.
Speaking at the event, Minister Roy underscored the importance of nurturing saplings beyond ceremonial plantation activities. “Over the years, tree plantations have been carried out in schools and government institutions, especially during Vanamahotsav. However, the absence of follow-up care often leads to the disappearance of these trees,” he said.
Roy emphasized the need for long-term commitment towards tree care, stating, “Planting alone is not enough. We must take responsibility to ensure that these saplings survive and thrive. If we can maintain the trees we plant today, in time, they will grow into a green canopy around us.”
