Agartala, 4th July 2025: As part of a nationwide campaign spearheaded by the Government Employees National Confederation (GENC) and the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), a delegation of Tripura Rajya Karmachari Sangh, Tripura Pradesh, submitted a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi today demanding immediate action on key issues concerning government employees.
The memorandum was handed over to the District Magistrate of West Tripura district Dr. Vishal Kumar with a request to forward it to the Prime Minister’s Office. The delegation included senior leaders such as Shankar Deb, Executive President of Rashtriya Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh; Sutapa Kar, Secretary; Partha Pal, President of Tripura Rajya Karmachari Sangh, Tripura Pradesh; Dulal Chowdhury, Vice President; along with Sujit Debnath, Bhaskar Gupta and Office Secretary Debjyoti Banik.
Speaking to the media, Partha Pal said, “We have requested the Prime Minister to immediately constitute the 8th Central Pay Commission, which was expected to be announced in January but is yet to be formally constituted.”
Among the major demands highlighted in the memorandum are the implementation of equal pay for equal work for all state government employees across India, the automatic extension of court-ordered benefits to similarly placed employees, the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in place of the National Pension Scheme (NPS/UPS), an increase in the group insurance amount to ₹20 lakh, the filling of long-pending vacancies, and the assurance of five promotions during the service life of every employee.
The unions have expressed hope that the Prime Minister will take swift and positive steps to address these concerns, which they say are crucial to ensuring the welfare and dignity of government employees.
“Our demands are legitimate and long-pending. We trust the Prime Minister will respond with the seriousness the issues deserve,” said Pal.
