Agartala, 5th July 2025:   Hours after Tipra Motha Party MLA Ranjit Debbarma warned of withdrawing support from the BJP-led government in Tripura, party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Saturday sought to downplay the remarks, saying they were made “out of frustration.”

Earlier today, Ranjit Debbarma said that Tipra Motha may sever ties with the BJP if key demands—including the implementation of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) directives against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, the introduction of the 125th Constitutional Amendment, and execution of the Tiprasa Accord—are not met.

Reacting to the statement, Pradyot said he was unaware of what the MLA had said but assured that he would speak with him.

“What he said was out of frustration,” Pradyot stated. “If our demands are not fulfilled, we will consider our options. I am in touch with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and will be speaking with Ranjit Debbarma as well.”

Pradyot further mentioned that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has agreed to meet them later this month. “We have to wait for his response. Indigenous people are feeling insecure in their own villages, and their frustration is real. We must address this sentiment, which is important for the peace and future of Tripura,” he added.

He also said that the Chief Minister has given him assurances regarding the implementation of the Tiprasa Accord and resolution of the issues in a peaceful and respectful manner.

“The CM has assured us that the issues will be resolved amicably and the Tiprasa Accord will be implemented in full spirit,” Pradyot said.
