Agartala, 29th July 2025: As many as 563 fish farmers received financial and logistical assistance under the Chief Minister’s Matsya Bikash Yojana during a distribution programme held at the Kalyanpur Block Panchayat Samiti Hall today.
Each beneficiary affected by recent floods was provided financial support of ₹2,880 by the Fisheries Department. In addition, seven selected farmers were given ice boxes to aid in fish preservation and transportation. As part of the initiative, 84 farmers were also enrolled in a fisheries insurance scheme, offering coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh.
The event was attended by local MLA Pinaki Das Choudhury, Block Chairman Somen Gope, BDO Himendu Bikash Pal, Sub-Divisional Fisheries Officer Sampa Pal and ATMA Chairman Nitai Bal.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Pinaki Das Choudhury lauded the scheme’s impact and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering all sections of society. “Since 2018, the state government has continuously worked towards the socio-economic development of every community, including the fishing sector,” he said.
