Agartala, 3rd August 2025:   Residents of South Ghilatali under Kalyanpur Pramodnagar area in Khowai district planted paddy saplings on a dilapidated road today highlighting years of official inaction.

The stretch serves as the primary route for local transportation, has been in a state of disrepair for a long time, with its condition worsening significantly during the monsoon season. According to villagers, repeated appeals to authorities for repair have gone unheard.

“This road is not just a path, it’s a lifeline. Commuters, schoolchildren, patients, even officials heading to the panchayat office face difficulties every day,” said a local resident.

Fed up with the administration’s indifference, the villagers turned to this symbolic act planting paddy saplings to drive home the gravity of the issue.

“When no one listened to our repeated requests, we were left with no option but to protest in this way,” said one of the protestors, standing ankle-deep in the muddy potholes.
