Agartala, 19th August 2025: In celebration of World Photography Day, the Tripura Photojournalists Association inaugurated a three-day photo exhibition at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here today marking both the global occasion and the association’s 25th anniversary.
The exhibition features 75 compelling photographs captured by 38 photojournalists, was launched with a vibrant ceremony attended by Tourism, Transport and Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar, DIGP Krishendu Chakraborty, Director of ICA department Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Agartala Press Club President Pranab Sarkar and social worker Subrata Chakraborty. Journalists and media professionals also joined the event.
Guests lauded the enduring legacy and contributions of Tripura’s photojournalists, whose work has resonated not only within the state but also on national and international platforms. The event commenced with a welcome address by General Secretary Abhishek Debbarma, followed by a vote of thanks from President Prolay Jit Pal.
This year’s silver jubilee celebration sparked discussions around adopting a more multifaceted approach to visual storytelling, reflecting the evolving role of photojournalism in society.
The exhibition will remain open to the public from August 19 to 21, daily from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The association extended heartfelt gratitude to all contributors and attendees for their support in making the event a success.
