Agartala, 8th October 2026 : Carrying the message of service, social responsibility, cleanliness, environmental conservation and public participation to communities across the state, nearly 5,000 schools in Tripura have joined the nationwide ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, with around 4.8 lakh students taking part in various activities.
The campaign, being observed across the country from September 17 to October 17, 2026, has brought together schools, offices under the Education Department and local communities in Tripura through a series of awareness and youth-oriented programmes.
The campaign seeks to commemorate 25 years of public service at the national level and encourage citizens, particularly young people and students, to actively participate in social service, voluntary activities and nation-building initiatives. With the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ as the broader goal, the campaign places special emphasis on connecting the spirit of ‘Seva’ with social responsibility and people’s participation.
Around 5,000 government, government-aided and private schools across Tripura have been brought under the campaign.
District-wise, approximately 680 schools in West Tripura, 517 in Khowai, 864 in Dhalai, 372 in Unakoti, 543 in North Tripura, 655 in Sepahijala, 620 in Gomati and 670 in South Tripura are participating in the initiative.
Together, the programmes have witnessed the participation of nearly 4.8 lakh students, making the campaign one of the largest school-based public participation initiatives in the state.
One of the major attractions of the campaign is ‘Mere Sapne Ka Bharat – Chitra Seva’, under which drawing competitions have been organised at the school level on the themes of ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp’ and 25 Years of Seva.
Students used colours and creative expression to portray their vision of a developed India, their aspirations and their sense of responsibility towards the nation.
Guidelines and schedules for the competition were circulated among schools, while certificates were also arranged to encourage participating students. Social media platforms were extensively used to promote the initiative and showcase student participation.
The statewide drawing competition was held on September 30, 2026. An exhibition featuring selected creative works will be organised shortly. The date of the exhibition will be finalised in consultation with the respective district administrations.
Under the ‘Namo Seva – Ankahi Kahaniyan’ initiative, street plays are being organised at selected schools, colleges and other important public gathering places under the Education Department.
Local theatre groups are being engaged to perform the street plays based on centrally provided scripts, with the objective of taking the message of service and public participation directly to the people.
Necessary permissions are being secured for organising the programmes, while extensive publicity is also being undertaken to generate greater public awareness.
District-wise, around 10 schools in West Tripura, 7 in Sepahijala, 9 in Khowai, 7 in Dhalai, 7 in Gomati, 5 in Unakoti, 7 in North Tripura and 7 in South Tripura have been identified for the street-play initiative.
‘Through ‘Seva Mera Yogdan’, citizens are being encouraged to contribute their time, labour and abilities towards social welfare activities.
Schools under the Education Department, along with the offices of District Education Officers and Inspectors of Schools, have been actively involved in the initiative.
Cleanliness drives are being conducted across schools, DEO offices and Inspector of Schools offices. Tree plantation programmes were also undertaken in schools and Education Department offices during September 2026.
As part of the campaign to strengthen the spirit of social responsibility, blood donation camps are planned during September–October 2026 at 100 schools, DEO offices and Inspector of Schools offices across the state.
Citizens are also being encouraged to voluntarily devote a part of their personal time—such as 25 minutes—to social welfare activities. The initiative aims to inculcate among students the values of voluntary service, community participation and social responsibility.
As part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, several schools under the Education Department have also organised ‘Tithi Bhojan’ programmes, aimed at strengthening the relationship between schools and the local community.
Through community participation, parents, local residents and other stakeholders are being encouraged to come together and organise Tithi Bhojan in schools.
The initiative goes beyond simply sharing a meal with children. It seeks to promote empathy, social responsibility and a spirit of cooperation within society. By bringing different sections of the community together around schools, the programme further strengthens the campaign’s emphasis on public participation.
Schools emerge as centres of community participation
Through the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, schools in Tripura are increasingly being positioned not merely as institutions of learning but also as centres of service, social responsibility, cleanliness, environmental awareness and public participation.
The active involvement of students is expected to foster patriotism, humanitarian values, a sense of responsibility and a willingness to make a positive contribution to society.
With nearly 4.8 lakh students and around 5,000 schools participating, the campaign has emerged as a significant example of people’s participation in Tripura.
The collective involvement of schools, teachers, students, parents, local communities and the administration is expected to carry forward the powerful message of “From Seva to Sankalp, and from Sankalp to Change.”
The combined efforts towards service, cleanliness, participation and social responsibility are expected to contribute towards building a more aware and responsible society while strengthening Tripura’s journey towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
