Deshbandhu Club launches cancer awareness drive at Santirbazar

Agartala, 23rd August 2025:   In a bid to raise awareness about cancer among local residents, Deshbandhu Club of Santirbazar organized a comprehensive cancer awareness program today in collaboration with a cancer care organization based in Agartala.

The initiative aimed to educate the public on cancer prevention strategies and provide guidance on treatment options for those already affected. Medical experts from AIIMS Hospital conducted free health check-ups for cancer patients, distributed essential medicines, and provided various medical supplies at no cost.

The program is part of Deshbandhu Club’s broader mission to transform Santirbazar into a cancer-free zone. Club office bearers emphasized their commitment to continuing such initiatives regularly to promote public health and early detection.

The event was attended by Pramod Reang, MLA of Santirbazar assembly constituency; Swapna Baidya, Chairperson of the Santirbazar Municipal Council; Prabir Baran Das, Secretary of Deshbandhu Club; Satyabrata Saha, Club President; Debasish Bhowmik, Vice President; Sajal Datta, Club Member; and Dr. Santosh Pusti from AIIMS Hospital.

Local leaders and attendees expressed their appreciation for the club’s proactive efforts, acknowledging the importance of sustained community engagement in the fight against cancer.

Deshbandhu Club confirmed that similar awareness and support programs will be held regularly to ensure continued outreach and impact.
