Agartala, 7th September 2025 : A pall of gloom descended on Latiyapura Gram Panchayat under Kailashahar Irani Police Station on Sunday afternoon after the body of a 7-year-old girl was found hanging inside her home.
The deceased, identified as Dia Begum, was the daughter of Anwar Ali, a resident of Ward No. 2 in the area.
According to family sources, Anwar Ali returned home after work and was shocked to find his daughter hanging from the ceiling with a towel. Hearing his screams, neighbors rushed to the spot and immediately informed the fire department. Dia was rescued and taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. The body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy, which will be conducted on Monday, police said.
Notably, Anwar Ali’s wife was at her father’s house at the time of the incident. The circumstances surrounding the death have raised suspicions among locals. Many questioned how such a young child could take the extreme step, alleging that she might have been killed and then hanged to create the appearance of suicide.
Police have initiated an investigation and said the exact cause of death will be ascertained after the post-mortem examination.
