45 kg of cannabis Seized from vehicle at Jatrapur; Driver flees into forest

Agartala, 9th September 2025:   In a late-night anti-narcotics operation around 10 pm yesterday, police recovered 45 kilograms of cannabis from a vehicle on the Kathalia–Thalibari road near Kamai Tilla under Jatrapur police station.

The joint operation was led by Sub-Inspector Bijoy Chakraborty along with local police personnel and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) officers, intercepted an Alto K10 car bearing registration number TR08E-0734. Upon being stopped, the driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped into the surrounding forest under cover of darkness.

A thorough search of the car led to the recovery of the large quantity of contraband. Authorities have since seized both the vehicle and the narcotics following due legal procedures.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Jatrapur Police Station. Search operations are ongoing to arrest the absconding suspect.
