Agartala, 11th September 2025 :  Tripura Congress MLA and former BJP minister Sudip Roy Barman on Thursday said Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman’s claim of being the “owner” of parts of Tripura was made out of frustration and to divert attention ahead of the District Council and Village Committee elections.

A video of Pradyot, where he named Agartala, Teliamura, and Kanchanpur, went viral, though he later clarified it was in reaction to Amra Bangali.

Addressing reporters, Barman stressed that “the real owners of Tripura are its people” and reminded that princely states no longer exist in independent India.

He added that the unfulfilled Tiprasa Accord and approaching polls explain Pradyot’s frustration: “By making provocative statements, he is trying to divert the attention of the people.”Barman also urged Pradyot to adopt a more inclusive approach in politics.
