Health dept issues advisory on Covid, makes wearing of masks compulsory

Agartala: July 21. The Health department today issued an advisory making compulsory using of masks in public places, crowded areas and in all work places and offices.Addressing a press conference this evening Health Secretary Dr. Debashis Basu said that a meeting of the state-level task force on the current situation of Covid in the state was held at the secretariat today.

“Chief Secretary JK Sinha presided over the meeting. The current overall situation of Covid in the state was discussed in the meeting of the state-level task forces. According to the decision of the meeting, importance was laid on ensuring that the people of the state wear masks. Necessary instructions have been given to the Police administration to crack down on non-wearing of masks”, he said.

He further informed that a fine of Rs 200 would be slapped on people who will be found without masks which repeated offenders would be fine Rs 400.He further said that the state government have 1.17 lakh of vaccines while more 15 lakh is necessary and for which they have already informed the Centre.

“Special vaccination camps have already been started in Schools and colleges and local clubs too. We have a stock of 1.20 lakh three layers masks and more 50 thousands will be procure to distribute among the daily labourers, rickshaw pullers and poor people”, he informed. The government has also issued an advisory urging people to avoid unnecessary movement outside home or workplace.

“Fair, Exhibition, Rallies, public meetings etc. may be avoided. Shop owners should ensure social distancing among customers, wearing of masks among customers. Bazaar committees should deploy volunteers to ensure social distancing. Wearing masks/face cover is compulsory in public places, crowded areas, in markets, in all work places and offices and during travelling”, the notification reads.

 Moushumi Sarkar said that a total of 55 lakh 59 thousand 787 vaccinations have been done in the state so far. Out of this, 28 lakh 98 thousand 572 first doses were given, 24 lakh 75 thousand 434 were given second dose and 1 lakh 85 thousand 781 doses were given as precautionary dose. Revenue Department Additional Secretary Anindya Bhattacharya was also present at the press conference.
