Agartala, 24th September 2025 :  An elderly man sustained serious injuries after being struck by a goods-laden truck near the Gramin Bank in Manpathar under the Santirbazar subdivision this afternoon.

Locals informed that the Bolero truck bearing registration number TR 03 G 1613 en route from Santirbazar to Udaipur hit the 75-year-old man with considerable force while passing through the Manpathar market area on the national highway. The impact threw the victim onto the road, causing severe injuries.

Local residents rushed to assist and promptly referred the injured man to Santirbazar District Hospital for medical treatment. Police from the Manpathar outpost arrived at the scene shortly after and have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The victim has been identified as Rohini Chakma, a resident of Kathalia Panchayat Para. Sources suggest that the truck was speeding and carrying excess passengers, which may have contributed to the incident. Reports indicate heavy bleeding from the victim’s head, arms, and legs.

Authorities are continuing their probe into the matter.
