Agartala, 15th October 2025: The body of Bishakha Sarkar, a 32-year-old daily wage worker was recovered yesterday evening from the forested area of Kali Tila, four days after she was reported missing. Her family and local residents allege she was murdered.
In response to the incident, the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), Jirania sub-divisional committee, submitted a deputation to the Superintendent of Police, West Tripura, demanding a thorough investigation and exemplary punishment for those responsible.
According to family members, Sarkar was last seen on the morning of October 11, when she left her home in RK Nagar and went to the residence of one Lakshmi Biswas in the same locality. There, she was allegedly tied up and assaulted. Despite extensive searches by her family and neighbors, she remained untraceable until her body was found hanging in the forest.
Lakshmi Biswas, identified as the prime suspect, is currently absconding.
AIDWA leaders have called for immediate arrest of the accused and a transparent investigation to ensure justice for Sarkar.
