Agartala, 22nd October 2025: Tension flared in the Belbari area today after an attack on BJP supporters who were on their way to attend the Chief Minister’s public rally. The incident took place near Khumtia Bazaar under Jirania police station, where stones were allegedly hurled at vehicles carrying BJP workers and supporters. Several BJP members were reportedly injured in the attack.

According to reports, a convoy of BJP supporters was heading toward the rally venue when suddenly their vehicles came under a barrage of stones. Multiple cars were vandalized during the incident. The injured were given first aid at a local health centre.

The attack caused a major disruption, leaving the convoy of BJP State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma and other party leaders stranded on the road for a long time. BJP sources also alleged that many party supporters were threatened and prevented from reaching the rally site, with some vehicles forced to turn back midway.

The BJP has directly accused its ally, the Tipra Motha party, of being behind the attack. The incident has triggered tension in the area, prompting the deployment of additional police forces to restore order. Authorities have stated that an investigation has been launched and strict action will be taken against those found responsible.
