Agartala, 2nd November 2025 : A five-day Matsasakhi and Master Trainer Thematic Training Programme under the Fisheries PIU, Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) was successfully conducted at the Fish Farmer Training Centre, Kanchanpur, North Tripura, from 27th to 31st October 2025. The programme was organized by the Sub-Divisional Fishery Office, Kanchanpur, with active coordination from the District Project Management Unit (DPMU) North Tripura, aiming to strengthen aquaculture-based livelihoods and promote entrepreneurship among fish farmers in the region.
The training was inaugurated by Shailendra Nath, MDC (Dasda-Kanchanpur), and Parthajoy Reang, Chairman, SZDC Laljuri Sub-Zone in the presence of senior officials Animesh Chakma (Superintendent of Fisheries, Kanchanpur), Tarendra Debbarma (Deputy Director of Fisheries), Songhita Paul (District Manager, Fisheries North & Unakoti, TRESP), and Bidesh Nashkar (TSA, DPMU North). The dignitaries highlighted the importance of scientific fish farming, capacity building, and the empowerment of rural women in fisheries development under TRESP.
A total of 73 participants, including Master Trainers and Matsasakhis from Dasda, Laljuri, Damchara, and Pechartal blocks, took part in the programme. The sessions, facilitated by the TSA Project Executives, Fishery Officers, and TRESP field staff, covered essential themes such as scientific pond management, water quality monitoring, seed production, sustainable polyculture, and feed preparation. Practical demonstrations on feed formulation, equipment handling, and market linkages provided valuable hands-on learning experiences to the trainees.
Participants expressed great enthusiasm and commitment to applying the newly acquired techniques in their local aquaculture practices. The DPMU North Tripura team emphasized continued support through technical follow-up, exposure visits, and field-level guidance to ensure sustained impact. The training concluded on a highly positive note, with appreciation extended to the Department of Fisheries staff, TSA team, TRESP officials, and Fisheries PIU for their collective effort. The initiative reinforced TRESP’s dedication to promoting sustainable aquaculture, empowering rural fish farmers, and enhancing economic opportunities across North Tripura.
