Agartala, 3rd November 2025: A special workshop aimed at encouraging natural farming practices among local farmers was held today at the Betaga Signboard Market under the Betaga Gram Panchayat in Bogafa block, Santirbazar subdivision. Organized by the Bogafa Agriculture Department, the event drew participation from 125 farmers, marking a significant step toward sustainable agriculture in the region.
The initiative aligns with the state government’s broader goal of doubling farmers’ income. Officials from the Bogafa Agriculture Department emphasized their continued commitment to supporting farmers through grassroots engagement and practical training.
In this programme, Krishna Reang, Chairman of the Bogafa Panchayat Samiti; Anita Debnath, member of the RK Ganj Panchayat Samiti; Nipu Sarkar, Chairman of Betaga Gram Panchayat; and agricultural supervisors Rajib Sen, Ajay Sen, and Babul Nama were present.
Betaga farmers have previously gained recognition for their success in potato cultivation. Building on that momentum, the Bogafa Panchayat Samiti selected Betaga as the pilot site to promote natural farming across 22 ADC villages and Gram Panchayats. Krishna Reang expressed confidence in the farmers’ ability to lead this transition.
As part of the workshop, each participating farmer received a water drum to support their agricultural activities. Additionally, the government will provide a monthly assistance of Rs 300 to each farmer.
Agricultural Supervisor Rajib Sen highlighted the importance and benefits of natural farming during the session. Notably, the event saw strong participation from women farmers, underscoring the inclusive nature of the initiative.
