Agartala, 6th November 2025: The state government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that pension and other retirement benefits reach retired government employees on time. To achieve this goal, a Human Resource Management System (HRMS) is being introduced to digitally store all necessary information about employees before their retirement.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy announced this initiative while inaugurating a one-day workshop titled “National Wide Digital Life Certificate Campaign – 4.0” at the Muktadhara Auditorium today. The event was organized by the Department of Finance to promote the use of digital technology in pension-related services. The primary aim of the campaign is to enable pensioners to submit their life certificates to the authorities online—using mobile apps or computers—without needing to visit offices physically.
Senior officials from the Finance Department, along with representatives from various banks, treasuries, the Accountant General’s office, post offices, and Common Service Centers, attended the workshop.
In his address, Finance Minister Singha Roy urged all pensioners to take full advantage of the campaign. He said that the initiative is designed to help retired government employees receive their pensions easily and conveniently through digital means. The Minister noted that there are currently 80,019 state government pensioners, and in the past, they often had to wait long periods to receive their dues. The new system, he emphasized, will simplify and expedite the process through better coordination between the Finance Department, treasuries, banks, and the AG’s office. He also proposed organizing similar workshops at the district and subdivision levels.
Highlighting the broader vision, the Minister said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Digital India” initiative, the state government has been promoting digitization at all administrative levels—from the Assembly and Secretariat to districts, subdivisions, blocks, and panchayats. He added that while the Prime Minister has drawn up a roadmap to build a “Developed India by 2047,” the state, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, is also working on a similar roadmap to ensure rapid progress.
“The success of this workshop will be measured by how effectively all 80,019 pensioners of the state adopt digital means to receive their pension benefits,” the Minister remarked.
Participating in the discussion, Finance Secretary Apurba Roy said that the state currently ranks fourth in India in implementing digital governance and expressed hope that it will soon reach the top position through collective efforts. Additional Secretary Akinchan Sarkar announced that helpdesks will be set up in all treasuries to assist pensioners, ensuring that this campaign delivers “good governance through digital service.”
Speakers at the event also included Palash Bhowmik, State Coordinator of the State Bank of India, and Sanchita Roy, Assistant Manager of Punjab National Bank. Among the distinguished attendees were Uttam Chakraborty, Senior Accounts Officer from the AG’s office; Treasury Officers Badal Roy and Suman Rakshit; and PNB Assistant Manager Vivek Pathak.
