Agartala, 7th November 2025: A team of officials from the Food department conducted a surprise inspection at a local grocery store in Ambassa market today, uncovering expired soft drinks being kept for sale. The raid was led by Deputy Commissioner of Food Safety, Dibyendu Das.
As part of a routine inspection across various shops in the market, officials discovered several bottles of expired beverages at a store named Radheshyam Bhandar. Preliminary findings revealed that the expired products were displayed for sale, prompting immediate action from the authorities.
Following the discovery, the shop was temporarily sealed, and legal proceedings were initiated under the Consumer Protection Act.
Speaking to reporters after the raid, D.C.M. Dibyendu Das stated, “During today’s routine inspection, expired soft drinks were recovered from Radheshyam Bhandar. We will not compromise on consumer health, and a detailed investigation is underway.”
He further emphasized that regular surveillance is being carried out to prevent the sale of expired or counterfeit food items in the market. “Strict action will be taken against any future violations,” he added.
Local traders acknowledged the impact of the raid, noting that it has heightened awareness and encouraged greater vigilance among shopkeepers.
