Agartala, 29th November 2025:   In a major boost to commuters in North Tripura, Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma today announced that the Agartala–Silchar passenger express will start halting at Pecharthal railway station from December 1.

The long-pending demand of residents of Pecharthal, Kumarghat and Kanchanpur has finally been met. Chakma said she had taken up the matter directly with the Union Railway Minister, leading to its approval.

An official flag-off will be held on December 1. The new stoppage ends the inconvenience of passengers having to travel to Kumarghat or Dharmanagar to board the train.

Chakma thanked the Union Railway Ministry and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for their support, noting that the decision will significantly improve regional connectivity.
