Agartala, 30th November 2025: Serious discontent has spread across the premises of Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital following allegations of irresponsible and careless behavior by X-Ray Department Technical Assistant Muktar Hossain. Doctors, healthcare workers, and the general public have reportedly grown increasingly frustrated with his alleged lack of professionalism in handling patient services.
According to hospital sources, Muktar Hossain is frequently absent from his workplace, misbehaves with patients, and often neglects his duties in the X-Ray unit. As a result, GDA staff member Prabin Kumar Jamatia has repeatedly been compelled to handle X-Ray-related work and assist patients in his absence.
Hossain, who was appointed during the previous Left Front administration, has long faced allegations of poor work culture and irresponsibility. Yet no effective disciplinary action has been taken against him so far, sources claim.
On the other hand, Teliamura MLA Kalyani Saha Roy has been consistently working to improve hospital infrastructure and ensure better healthcare services for her constituency. From beautification of the hospital premises to administrative interventions aimed at enhancing patient care, she has taken several initiatives. However, locals allege that the negligence of a few employees like Muktar Hossain repeatedly undermines these efforts.
A ground report from the hospital revealed that although staff are required to report for duty by 9:00 AM, Muktar Hossain arrived around 10:30 AM. In his absence, GDA employee Prabin Kumar Jamatia was seen conducting an X-Ray for a critically ill patient. When questioned by the media, Hossain hesitantly cited multiple excuses — including an “important meeting” in Agartala and a malfunctioning bike.
When approached for comments, the hospital’s Medical Officer-in-Charge Dr. Ajit Debbarma stated that he had no information about Hossain officially applying for leave. He assured the media that the matter would be investigated.
Citizens argue that government employees, who are paid with taxpayers’ money, are expected to act responsibly. This situation raises a pertinent question: When an elected representative works tirelessly to ensure quality healthcare for the public, why should ordinary patients suffer due to the negligence of a few irresponsible employees like Muktar Hossain?
