Another accused arrested in Nadiapur fatal attack on schoolboy and mother

Agartala, 2nd December 2025 :  Police at Churaibari station have arrested another suspect in connection with the brutal attack on a schoolboy and his mother in Nadia Pur. The accused, identified as Tapas Sinha (38), son of Lakshindra Sinha and a resident of Ward No. 4 in Nadia Pur, was taken into custody following fresh leads obtained during interrogation of a previously arrested suspect.

Earlier, investigators had produced another accused before the court in Kherengjuri, seeking three days’ police remand in relation to the heinous killing of the child.

The incident dates back to November 24, when a group of miscreants armed with sharp weapons attacked Bijoya Sinha and her eight-year-old son Amrit Sinha while they were returning home from school. In the indiscriminate assault, Amrit was killed on the spot, while his mother sustained grievous injuries and collapsed at the scene. She was immediately shifted outside the state for advanced treatment and is reported to be recovering.

Following the attack, police registered a case under sections 103(1), 118(2), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with case number 34/25. Earlier, Madan Gopal Sinha, a resident of Gobindapur, was arrested, and his interrogation revealed crucial information leading to the latest arrest.

Churaibari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Debabrata Biswas stated that further questioning of the suspects is expected to help apprehend the remaining individuals involved in the crime.
