Agartala, 3rd December 2025: A landmark event took place today at Bir Bikram Memorial College, Agartala, with the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BBM College and the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Agartala. This collaboration aims to foster academic cooperation, promote skill development initiatives, strengthen capacity-building efforts, and enhance technology-driven learning opportunities for the students of BBM College.
The MoU was signed by Mrinal Dasgupta, Principal-in-Charge of BBM College and Niladri Das, representing NIELIT, Agartala. Mrinal Dasgupta also delivered the Presidential Address, highlighting the transformative scope of this collaboration while Niladri Das, in his remarks, emphasized the importance and future prospects of the MoU, particularly in empowering students through technology-based skill development.
The ceremony, organized on the college campus, marked a significant step towards enriching the academic ecosystem and bridging the gap between traditional learning and emerging technological advancements.
The event was graced by Dr. Jiban Krishna Patra, Convener of the Academic Committee, and Sri Tapanjyoti Malakar, Joint Secretary of the Teachers’ Council. Both dignitaries addressed the gathering and shared their insights on the relevance of such partnerships in today’s educational context.
Several distinguished faculty members were present, including Sanhita Dasgupta, Dr. Sanjoy Chakraborty, Dr. Manidip Roy, Dr. Arijit Das, Dr. Kartik Lal Bhowmik, Shayni Debbarma, Raj Laxmi Chakma, Rajesh Kumar Das and Joydeep Saha from BBM College. Sumit Bhattacharya attended the ceremony on behalf of NIELIT.
The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Basudeb Bhattacharya, Coordinator of the Placement Cell. The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks by Dr. Tapas Kumar Sethy, Head of the Department of Commerce, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their active participation.
More than 200 students attended the ceremony, demonstrating their enthusiasm toward new learning and skill-enhancement opportunities. The programme was efficiently anchored by Ratna Chakma and Akash Debnath, students of the 5th semester, Department of Commerce. The signing of this MoU marks a significant milestone for BBM College, opening new avenues for academic growth, innovation, and student empowerment through collaboration with a premier technology institution like NIELIT.
