Agartala, 5th December 2025: Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder today announced that the upcoming Agartala City Hospital is expected to be opened to the public within the next three months. The mayor visited the construction site earlier in the day and reviewed the overall progress of the project.
Speaking to the media, Majumder said, “We inspected the ongoing work and discussed what more is needed. We are expecting that within three months this hospital will be ready for public use.”
According to the mayor, the new facility is being developed to ease the patient load on major hospitals such as IGM, Tripura Medical College (TMC), and GB Pant Hospital. Currently, many residents under the Agartala Municipal Corporation area are compelled to travel to these hospitals for treatment.
“To ensure better healthcare access within the city, the decision to open this hospital was taken under the special direction of Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha. Health Secretary Kiran Gitte is also closely monitoring the project with special emphasis,” Majumder stated.
The Agartala City Hospital will offer a range of healthcare services, including a 50-bed facility and an expanded Outpatient Department (OPD). “All essential facilities will be provided,” the mayor assured.
The construction is being funded jointly by the National Health Mission (NHM) and the State Government, while the Agartala Municipal Corporation will be responsible for managing the hospital once it becomes operational.
