Health Director reviews infra progress in Khowai district

Agartala, 23rd December 2025:   A high-level delegation led by Health Director Dr. Debasree Debbarma visited Khowai district today to assess the progress of ongoing healthcare infrastructure projects. The team conducted a detailed inspection of the under-construction office building of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in the district, reviewing the pace and quality of the ongoing work.

Following the site visit, the delegation proceeded to the Durgapur Primary Health Centre (PHC), where they toured various departments including the maternity ward and staff quarters. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining cleanliness and enhancing service delivery, Dr. Debbarma urged healthcare workers to remain committed to improving patient care. She also assured that necessary steps would be taken promptly in areas requiring improvement.

In a significant development, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha virtually inaugurated the newly constructed District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC) in Khowai earlier in the day. The Health Director and her team evaluated the quality of services and infrastructure at the new facility. The delegation conducted a thorough walkthrough of the building, inspecting rooms, medical equipment, and service delivery mechanisms. They also issued key directives to ensure optimal functioning of the centre.

The visiting team included Dr. Nirmal Sarkar, Joint Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine; Dr. Padmaram Jamatia, Chief Medical Officer of Khowai district; and Dr. Rajkishore Debbarma, District Surveillance Officer, among others.
