Agartala, 30th January 2026: Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) carried out a demolition drive in front of the HDFC Bank at Math Chowmuhani, removing illegal business establishments that had encroached on government land. The operation was conducted by AMC’s East Zone team, during which the occupied footpath was dismantled.
Corporator Sukhamoy Saha, along with members of the task force, was present during the eviction. According to officials, the area had been under unauthorized occupation for a long time, with businesses operating without government approval. The encroachment had obstructed pedestrian movement and caused inconvenience to citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, Corporator Saha stated that the drive was aimed at protecting public land and ensuring safe passage for residents. He further emphasized that strict action will continue against such illegal encroachments in the future.
