Agartala, 5th February 2026 : Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a late-night raid and recovered 27 kilograms of dried marijuana from a man’s house.
The contraband was found stored in a plastic drum and three sacks, with an estimated market value of around Rs 3 lakh.The operation took place in Ramanagar village, Ram Pada Para, under Bishramganja police station, from midnight to 4 a.m. today. The arrested individual has been identified as Shambhu Charan Jamatia, 35, son of Tirtha Kumar Jamatia. He has been booked under sections 20(b)/25/29 of the NDPS Act (case no. 04/2026-20(b) (!!)C).
The raid was conducted under the supervision of Bishalgarh Sub-Division officials, including police officer Bikash Cynthia, Deputy Collector and Magistrate Soumesh Banik, and Bishramganj police station OC Ajit Debbarma.
OC Ajit Debbarma stated that operations like this will continue as part of the police’s ongoing efforts to create a drug-free society. Shambhu Charan Jamatia was produced in Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Court on Thursday afternoon.
