Agartala, 5th February 2026 : Kalikhola ADC Village witnessed a tragic incident on Thursday when a woman worker was found dead under unusual circumstances at a local brick kiln, sparking panic among fellow laborers.
The deceased has been identified as Swapna Tikka (22), wife of Jagannath Kujur (24). Both hailed from Jharkhand and were known among workers as “Ranchi laborers.”
The incident occurred at BMI Brick Kiln, located in Kalikhola ADC Village. According to manager Sanjay Naha, while most workers left for duty early in the morning, Swapna did not report for work. Concerned female workers began searching for her and eventually discovered her lying unconscious in her room. The matter was immediately reported to the management and owners of the kiln — MD Kamal Hossain, Rajesh Debnath, and Nazrul Islam.
The kiln employs around 85 workers, including 52 from Jharkhand. Following the discovery, police from Jatrapur Police Station arrived promptly, conducted a preliminary investigation, and sent the body to Kathalia Community Health Centre for legal and medical formalities.
The incident has left several women workers in tears and raised alarm in the area. Locals point out that cases of unnatural deaths in the Jatrapur police station jurisdiction have been increasing in recent times, prompting demands for a deeper administrative investigation.
