Agartala, 8th February 2026 : In a joint operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) seized 20 kilograms of ganja from a railway station on Sunday morning.
According to sources, two accused involved in drug trafficking arrived near the railway station in an auto-rickshaw carrying two bags. While they were heading towards the station, security personnel became suspicious of their movements. On noticing the police, the accused abandoned the two bags filled with ganja and fled the spot.
Police chased the suspects but failed to apprehend them. Officer-in-charge Anil Chandra Debnath stated that upon checking the abandoned bags, 20 kilograms of ganja were recovered.
The seized contraband has been confiscated, and a case has been registered. Police have launched an investigation to identify and arrest the accused.
