59th Baba Longtharai Mela from Feb 15 to 17; Bikash chairs review meeting

Agartala, 9th  February 2026 :  The 59th Baba Longtharai Mela is set to take place from February 15 to 17, 2026, at Longtharai Hill under Chawmanu block in Dhalai district. Preparations are underway to ensure the three-day fair is conducted smoothly, with the Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma chairing a review meeting today at the Dhalai District Magistrate’s conference hall.

The meeting was attended by Zilla Parishad’s Sabhadhipati Sushmita Das, MLA Shambhu Lal Chakma, DM Vivek HB, SP Rushikesh Desai, senior officials from various departments, and members of the mela committee. Officials confirmed that government departments will set up stalls at the venue, while religious and cultural programs will also be organized.

Minister Debbarma emphasized that the mela attracts thousands of visitors across communities, transcending caste and religion, and highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and order during the celebrations. He urged officials from all departments to take proactive measures to ensure the event’s success.

During the meeting, the Baba Longtharai Trust also formally released its 2026 calendar.
