Agartala, 20th February 2026: Transport, Food & Civil Supplies and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, along with the Secretary and Commissioner of the Transport Department, today held a cordial courtesy meeting at the Tripura Secretariat with senior officials of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The delegation from AAI included Gyan Batra, Regional Executive Director for India’s Northeast Region of the Airports Authority of India, the newly appointed Director of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Krishna Mohan Nehra, and former Airport Director K. C. Meena.
During the meeting, the Transport Minister and the AAI officials engaged in detailed discussions on a range of issues related to aviation services and airport operations in Tripura. Key topics included strengthening air connectivity, expanding infrastructure, and improving passenger services at Agartala’s airport, which currently serves as the main aviation hub for the state and the broader northeastern region.
Minister Chowdhury emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the state government and AAI to enhance the efficiency and quality of air services — a critical factor for Tripura’s economic growth and tourism potential. Discussions also covered future plans to support additional flight operations and explore avenues for expanding airport facilities.
The meeting underscored both the state government’s commitment and AAI’s continued support in advancing the aviation sector in Tripura, aligning with broader goals of strengthening regional connectivity and boosting socio economic development.
