Agartala, 25th February 2026:   The mysterious death of online delivery worker Prosenjit Sarkar has taken a new turn. After a prolonged legal process, five accused in the case were presented before the High Court today, following their appearance in the lower court. The court rejected any plea for bail and ordered the case to be transferred to the High Court, confirmed advocate Debdas Bakshi.

According to case records, the charge sheet was filed 72 days after the incident. Following its submission, a fresh hearing was held today, during which the accused were produced before the court. The presiding judge decided to move the matter to the High Court for further proceedings.

Advocate Bakshi, who has been handling the case for the past 72 days, alleged that while in judicial custody, the accused attempted to intimidate witnesses. He stated that this issue has also been brought to the court’s attention. Expressing confidence, Bakshi said, “We expect the next phase of the trial to begin without delay. I will make every legal effort to ensure justice is delivered.”

The death of Sarkar had sparked strong reactions in Dharmanagar, with family members and local residents demanding exemplary punishment for those responsible. Today’s development has brought a measure of relief to them, as they see progress in the long-awaited trial. Advocate Bakshi also thanked the media for highlighting the case and keeping public attention focused on the matter.

All eyes are now on the High Court’s next steps. Observers hope that a swift trial will finally bring closure to the prolonged wait for justice.
