Agartala, 3rd March 2026:    In response to concerns over fuel availability and rising public anxiety, Sushanta Chowdhury, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, on Tuesday reaffirmed that the state government has taken proactive and preventive measures to ensure uninterrupted supply and stable pricing of petrol, diesel, LPG cylinders, other petroleum products, and essential commodities across Tripura.

The Minister convened an emergency review meeting at the State Secretariat following reports of long queues at petrol pumps in parts of the city. The rush reportedly stemmed from apprehensions of a potential fuel shortage amid escalating tensions after the recent U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran.

Addressing the situation, the Minister categorically stated that there is no fuel crisis in the state and urged citizens not to panic. He emphasized that strict monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to prevent artificial price hikes and to curb any attempt at hoarding or black marketing of essential goods.

During the meeting, a comprehensive review of the current stock and supply position of petrol, diesel, LPG, and essential food items was undertaken. The Minister issued necessary guidelines to concerned officials, directing them to maintain close surveillance over market activities and ensure that supply chains function smoothly without disruption.

Special emphasis was placed on preventing the creation of any artificial scarcity of fuel or essential commodities that could trigger unwarranted price escalation. The department reiterated its firm commitment to safeguarding consumer interests and maintaining stability in the market across the state.

The government has assured the public that adequate stocks are available and that continuous monitoring will remain in place to ensure normalcy and prevent exploitation during sensitive times.
