Ambedkar Memorial Merit Award Ceremony held at Nalchar

Bishalgarh: Mar 15. The Sonamura Sub-Division today organized the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Memorial Scheduled Caste Merit Award Distribution Ceremony 2025–26 at the Nalchar Block Community Hall. The event was inaugurated by the State Higher Education Minister, Kishor Barman, who lit the ceremonial lamp.

Among the dignitaries present were Sepahijala Zilla Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta, Nalchhara Block Chairman Swapan Kumar Das, Vice-Chairman Rina Debnath, Nalchhara Panchayat Samiti Education Standing Committee Chairperson Kalpana Das, and Additional Sub-Divisional Development Officer of Nalchhara R.D. Block, Siddhartha Shankar Roy, along with other notable guests.

In his address, Minister Barman highlighted the Prime Minister’s vision of building a “Developed India by 2047,” stressing that this responsibility lies not only with the government but with every citizen. He also remarked that in previous administrations, Scheduled Caste communities were often denied due respect and faced neglect and humiliation.

Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta also spoke at the ceremony. Awards were presented to Scheduled Caste students who secured positions from first to tenth in the 2025 Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations. These students received the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Gold Medal and Merit Awards. Additionally, Scheduled Caste students from classes VI to IX across Sonamura schools, who passed with first division, were honored with the Ambedkar Memorial Merit Award.

The initiative aims to encourage academic excellence among Scheduled Caste students and recognize their talent and hard work. Guests extended their best wishes for the bright future of the awardees.
