Tripura Partners with IIT Delhi to Train Youth in Advanced Technologies

Agartala, 31st March 2026: In a significant move to build a skilled workforce for the industrial sector, the Department of Skill Development has launched specialized training programs for youth in cutting-edge technologies. This initiative is expected to further strengthen the state’s digital economy.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Skill Development, i-Hub Foundation for Robotics (IHFC), and the Technology Innovation Hub of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi). The MoU was officially signed on February 9, 2026, during an inaugural event at NIT Agartala, in the presence of Prof. Rangan Banerjee of IIT Delhi and Kiran Gitya, Secretary of the State Department of Industries and Commerce.

Under this initiative, a total of 148 trainees are currently undergoing training at NIT Agartala and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Agartala. The training focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for three batches and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML) for one batch, designed to meet the latest demands of the digital sector.

The program adopts a blended learning approach, combining classroom sessions, hands-on laboratory training, and online lectures conducted by IIT Delhi professors. Domain experts from IIT Delhi are leading the sessions to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

For the convenience of the participants, the Department of Skill Development has arranged accommodation in Durjoynagar, Agartala, and transportation to the training centers. Upon completion, trainees will receive joint certificates from the Department of Skill Development and IIT Delhi. Additionally, top-performing trainees will have the opportunity for internships at IIT Delhi.
