Police Nab Four Bangladeshi Infiltrators in Khowai District Following Tip-Off

Agartala, 31st March 2026:  Tripura Police detained four Bangladeshi nationals on Tuesday morning for allegedly entering India through an unauthorized route in Khowai district.

According to officials, the arrests were made in the Mahadebtilla area following a specific tip-off. Security personnel launched an operation and intercepted the group while they were traveling towards Khowai in an auto-rickshaw after crossing the border at Asharambari.

Preliminary findings suggest that the individuals used illegal channels to enter the country, reportedly paying around Rs 16,000 to middlemen operating on both sides of the India-Bangladesh border.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Mia (55) from Kakbhola in Moulvibazar, along with Shyamal Mia (55), Helal Mia (40), and Abdul Wasik (24).

Police officials stated that the suspects were taken to Khowai Police Station for further questioning. Authorities are now investigating the motive behind their entry and attempting to trace others who may have facilitated the crossing. A detailed probe has been initiated to uncover the full extent of the network involved.
